NEW YORK, N.Y. - (March 15, 2006)

Media and Entertainment Industry Executives to Gather at New York’s Directors Guild Theatre to Discuss and Debate Key Topics and Trends Shaping the Motion Picture Industry in the Year Ahead

Program to be Moderated by Inside the Actors Studio Host James Lipton

On Wednesday, March 22, 2006, senior executives from the entertainment, marketing, and media industries will gather at New York’s Directors Guild Theatre for the Second Annual Insiders’ Ball™. Hosted by cinema advertising leader Screenvision, the Insiders’ Ball is an annual celebration and exploration of the motion picture industry which provided industry insiders with a lively and insightful forum to discuss and debate the key topics and trends impacting the business of film in the year ahead. Most notably, the program will include specific predictions on the near-term future of the film industry, as offered by a diverse panel of senior film industry executives, a moderated roundtable discussion based on those predictions, and a cocktail reception.

James Lipton, renowned host of Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio and Dean Emeritus of The Actors Studio Drama School of New School University, returns for his second year to lead and moderate the roundtable discussion. Confirmed panel members for the event include John Lyons, president of production for Focus Features; Fred Nelson, vice president of digital media for Entertainment Weekly; Travis Reid, board member of AMC Entertainment; independent executive producer Joel Stillerman; and independent executive producer Charlie Corwin.

“We believe the Insiders’ Ball is one of the year’s hottest tickets for business leaders interested in the business of movies,” said Stu Ballatt, senior vice president of marketing at Screenvision. “This forum will encourage opinion and predictions on multiple facets of the industry – marketing, distribution, production, exhibition, and more. It is a truly unique opportunity to hear directly from a very distinguished panel of executives, each of whom is moving and shaking this industry on a daily basis. We are also thrilled to have James Lipton on board for a second year to lead that discussion.”

James Lipton will serve as host and moderator of the Second Annual Insiders’ Ball. In addition to his regarded position as host of Inside the Actors Studio, Mr. Lipton is an actor, writer, director, producer, and choreographer, making him uniquely qualified to lead the diverse discussion. Each panelist will offer several specific predictions based on key factors each believes will significantly impact the movie business over the next 12 to 18 months. This year’s panel represents a diverse cross-section of industry disciplines:

  • John Lyons is president of production for Focus Features, the acclaimed movie studio behind the Academy Award-nominated films Brokeback Mountain and Pride & Prejudice, and the current title, Dave Chappelle’s Blockparty.
  • Fred Nelson is vice president of digital media for Entertainment Weekly, America’s leading consumer magazine of entertainment and popular culture, and winner of four National Magazine Awards.
