Screenvision Launches Entertainment Content Distribution Initiative

NEW YORK, NY - (Oct. 5, 2005)

New Business Offering To Help Movie Exhibitors Build Off-peak Attendance By Providing Family Entertainment, Concerts, Sports, and Late-Night Programming

Partnership With G-rated Movie Distributor Kidtoon Films Kicks-off Initiative - Delivers Saturday and Sunday Matinees For Young Children and Parents

In a move designed to help movie exhibitors attract new audiences and expand profitability, Screenvision, the global leader in cinema advertising, is launching a new business initiative designed to provide compelling non-theatrical entertainment content to movie theatres across the nation through its high definition screen advertising network. Screenvision’s entertainment content business will deliver programming designed for “off-peak” hours, thereby helping exhibitors attract patrons at times when theaters are under-utilized, such as weekend mornings and late at night.

To launch this new initiative, Screenvision has finalized a deal with Kidtoon Films, a national distributor of new G-rated programming. Through this partnership, Screenvision will look to provide exhibitors with fun-filled G-rated content that exhibitors can utilize to deliver matinee offerings at affordable prices and attract families with children.

“Our partnership with Kidtoon Films and the development of this entertainment content business strengthens our offering of high definition advertising services to our more than 130 exhibitor partners,” said Screenvision CEO Matthew Kearney. “In many ways, this new initiative represents the right solution for everyone involved. Exhibitors are able to offer a valuable new entertainment service to their respective communities and gain a new form of revenue in the process. Targeted audiences – like young children and their parents – gain access to additional high-quality entertainment offerings from their local cinema; content producers gain a compelling new market for their product.”

Initial titles to be offered via the Screenvision-Kidtoon Films partnership include: “Tom & Jerry in The Fast and the Furry,” produced by Warner Bros. Animation, “My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas,” produced by Hasbro, Inc. and SD Entertainment; “Scooby-Doo in Where’s My Mummy,” produced by Warner Bros. Animation; and “Make Way for Noddy Christmas,” produced by Chorion and SD Entertainment.

Children under 10 years-old – the next generation of moviegoers – represent an audience that will likely take quickly to this new content. Only 3% of theatrical films are G-rated. Through the Screenvision-Kid Toon initiative, children will have more frequent opportunities to experience and enjoy the movie-going experience.

“Parents want to share the big screen movie theatre experience with their kids but there are few age-appropriate movies,” said Jonathan Dern, the co-CEO of Kidtoon Films. “Our new partnership with Screenvision enables families with kids to make theatres an entertainment destination 52 weekends a year.”

“Our matinee program provides this audience with a movie event – showing fun cartoon shorts, music videos and great new G-rated movies, as well as a free give-away for each child,” said Greg Rutkowski, co-CEO of Kidtoon Films. “Movie matinees can once again be a place where kids and families can plan to gather on a weekly basis.”

Screenvision plans to expand its content portfolio over the next year to include music concerts, cutting-edge animation and special late night programming all tailored to appeal to targeted audiences during off-peak hours.

“This is the first of many entertainment content projects we will be bringing to our movie theatre partners,” said Kearney. “There is a wealth of compelling content out there to be tapped and there are audiences interested and engaged to see it.”
