Screenvision and Carmike Cinemas Announce Exclusive Agreement

Carmike Cinemas and Screenvision, the world leader in cinema advertising, jointly announced today that they have inked an agreement for Screenvision to be the exclusive provider of pre-show advertising across Carmike’s 2,211 screens nationwide. The deal increases the size of Screenvision’s slide network by 29 percent. Screenvision now exclusively controls the entire advertising pre-show - both slides and rolling stock - on 9,700 screens.

"With the addition of Carmike, our regional sales team, Screenvision Direct, now offers advertisers the ability to deliver local advertising messages on cinema screens in markets throughout the country," said Darryl Schaffer, Executive Vice President, Theatre Operations & Exhibitor Relations for Screenvision. "In addition to our market dominance in the slide arena, Screenvision is solidly positioned in a leadership role with more than 14,000 rolling stock screens representing 55 percent marketshare."

Based in Columbus, GA, Carmike has theatres in 94 out of 210 DMAs, with 151 screens in the top 10 DMAs (Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta) and 418 screens in the top 25 DMAs (Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta, Tampa, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Denver, Orlando, Pittsburgh).

With this agreement and its solid leadership position, Screenvision is poised to benefit from the double-digit growth forecasted for cinema advertising. An Initiative Futures Worldwide study, "Sphere’s of Influence 2004," predicts the cinema advertising industry to increase by 30 percent.
