New York - (Nov. 8, 2006)
Addition of Muvico Increases Screenvision’s High-Definition Digital Network to 6,000
Movie Screens Nationwide
Screenvision, the global leader in cinema
advertising, has expanded its relationship with Muvico Theaters, a Ft. Lauderdale-based
exhibitor. Under this new agreement, Screenvision will utilize preshow digital technology on
all of Muvico’s 233 screens, adding them to its national high-definition digital network that
will now total in excess of 6,000 screens across the country.
In addition, Screenvision will continue to represent Muvico for national on-screen
advertising and will add regional and local on-screen advertising responsibilities.
“Through the expansion of our relationship with Muvico and the addition of our digital
technology to their screens, we have bolstered our national digital network and the reach of
our digital preshow,” said Matthew Kearney, president and chief executive officer of
Screenvision. “This partnership will also give greater access to key markets for our national
advertisers while continuing to provide an accountable advertising medium, allowing our
partners to measure their return on investment.”
With this new agreement, Screenvision’s 6,000 installed digital screens will deliver ads in 43
of the top 50 DMAs and 125 of the top 210 DMAs. The rollout of Screenvision’s digital
network in subsequent years is expected to surpass more than 10,000 of the company’s over
14,000 screens nationwide.
Muvico operates twelve theaters, including three of the top 25 highest-grossing theaters
nationally. The exhibitor is planning four new locations to open by the end of 2008,
including the Rosemont Walk project in the Chicago DMA. This 104-thousand square foot
theater will be located near Chicago’s O’Hare Airport in the town of Rosemont and feature
Muvico’s Premier Theaters, Bistro and Bar.
Mike Whalen, president of Muvico added, “Our strategy is to operate state-of–the-art
megaplexes and provide a unique, comfortable movie-going experience for our guests. By
joining Screenvision’s preshow digital network, we further our commitment to high-end
technology, which helps us to enhance our commitment to provide the world’s premier
movie experience for our guests.
Darryl Schaffer, executive vice president of Screenvision exhibitor relations, commented,
“The new agreement with Muvico continues the expansion of our nationwide digital network
and marks a major milestone as we bring our total to 6,000 digital screens nationwide. It also
furthers the reach of our one-of-a-kind digital preshow, giving advertisers greater reach in
more markets, the exhibitor increased revenue and moviegoers an entertaining way to pass
the time while they wait for the movie to start.”
