New York - (March 6, 2008)
Screenvision’s 2K Digital Network to Present Three Operas from Famous Italian Opera House: “La Traviata,” “Maria Stuarda” and “Il Trittico”
Screenvision, the global leader in cinema
advertising, today announced an expanded relationship with Emerging Pictures to
bring three additional operas from Italy’s world-renowned La Scala Opera House to
its nationwide digital cinema network. This announcement comes on the heels of a
successful debut initiative in Q4 2007, wherein Screenvision and Emerging Pictures
presented La Scala’s rendition of “Aida” to more than 40 movie theatres nationwide.
Under this new relationship, Screenvision will present “La Traviata” on March 26,
“Maria Stuarda” on April 30 and “Il Trittico” on May 15 to 48 digital theatres in
top DMAs, including: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas.
Additionally, each exhibitor will have the option to show other Italian operas,
including: "Tristan and Isolde," "Forza Del Destino" and "La Rondine."
The operas will once again be presented through 2K high definition cinema
projectors and 5.1 Dolby surround sound. Participating exhibitors include: Classic
Cinemas, Clearview Cinemas, Consolidated Theatres, Dickinson Theatres, Emagine,
Mann Theatres, The Movie Experience, Muvico Theatres, Rave Motion Pictures,
Ultra Star Cinemas and Wehrenberg Theatres.
“We’re so excited to be able to again offer our exhibitor partners operas from the
world famous La Scala Opera House,” said Darryl Shaffer, executive vice president,
exhibitor relations for Screenvision. “I’m pleased that we continue to offer
alternative programming opportunities to our exhibitors across the country. We look
forward to another successful run with La Scala.”
Sponsors include DLP Cinema®, a leading digital technology provider in movie
theaters since 1999, for all three presentations of operas from La Scala and The Cavit
Collection, the number one Italian wine in America, for sponsorship of the
presentation of “La Traviata.” (Source: Nielsen 52 weeks ending 1-12-08 Food,
